SAYING GOODBYE TO MOTHER….

We were dressed and ready to go out for a New Years Eve Party. We turned
on a night light, turned on the answering machine, covered our pet Parakeet
and put the cat out of the house.We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and we opened the front door to leave the house. The cat scoots back through the
front door. We didn’t want the cat shut in the house because she always tries
to eat the bird.My wife goes out to the taxi, while I went back inside to get the cat. The cat
runs upstairs, with me in hot pursuit.  Waiting in the cab, my wife doesn’t want the driver to know that the house will be empty for the night. So, she tells him that I will be out soon and that I
just went upstairs to say goodbye to her mother.A few minutes later, I get into the cab.“Sorry I took so long,” I said, as we drove away. “That stupid old thing was hiding under the bed. I had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off,so I grabbed her by the neck. Then, I had to wrap her in a blanket to keepher from scratching me. But it worked! I hauled her fat ass downstairs and threw her out into the back yard!”

The cab driver ran into a parked car.

CHURCH ORDERED TO STOP GIVING AWAY FREE WATER

According to the local paper: “A Louisiana church was ordered to stop giving away free water along Mardi Gras parade routes because they did not have the proper permits.”
 
Here are the reasons why they may want permits to protect the public:
 
Le Krewe D’Etat is trying to determine who plastered their floats, band vans, electrical equipment truck and some riding lieutenants’ costumes with stickers of the D’Etat logo with the heel of a red shoe poking a bleeding eye. The same scene was painted on the ground in front of the D’Etat den and on the ground at the start of the parade. These actions, no matter who perpetrated them, amount to vandalism. This type of activity has no place in Mardi Gras. Satire is one thing; this is another.
Why wasn’t the King of Zulu on stage to greet the King of Carnival at Lundi Gras as is the custom? Reportedly it was a scheduling snafu, but many in the crowd thought it was a snub.
There is a gentlemen’s agreement between the news media and the Rex organization not to announce the identity of the king and queen until 6 PM on Lundi Gras. For the second year in a row NOLA.com broke the embargo and revealed their identities at 5 PM.
Two well-documented shootings took place this parade season, but was there a third one that is being hushed up? Several sources say gunfire took place during the Rex parade in the 1700 block of St. Charles Avenue on Fat Tuesda

RIZING GAS PRICES MADE IN AMERICA?

What may surprise you, however, is what one of Wall Street’s top regulators
has to say about who else you’re paying: speculators on Wall Street.
 
‘Bart Chilton, a commissioner at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the federal agency that regulates commodity futures and option trading in the United States, said it’s time to look at home — in addition to overseas — when searching for the reasons why gas prices are on the rise.
 
“I’m fired up,” Chilton said. “I’m concerned and we have to look after consumers.”
According to Chilton, much of the problem is actually “made in the USA,” created by Wall Street traders who gamble on oil prices.
“There aren’t markets without speculation,” Chilton told ABC News. “It’s the excessive speculation we are concerned about.”’

“If conversion to Christianity makes no improvement in a man’s outward actions – if he continues to be just a snobbish or spiteful or envious or ambitious as he was before  then I think we must suspect that his ‘conversion’ was largely imaginary;

 and after one’s original conversion, every time one thinks one has made an advance, that is the test to apply. Fine feelings, new insights, greater interest in ‘religion’ mean nothing unless they make our actual behavior better; just as in an illness ‘feeling better’ is not much good if the thermometer shows that your temperature is still going up. In that sense the outer world is quite right to judge Christianity by its results.

In 18 years on the Supreme Court, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has written more than 200 opinions on a number of important topics, including major opinions on everything from copyright law to abortion rights to employment discrimination. But in the area of campaign finance, she’s authored only one inconsequential two-paragraph concurring opinion—in one of the Supreme Court’s recent cases striking down parts of the McCain-Feingold law—in which she distanced herself from a more far-reaching dissent of Justice Stevens. She’s been a reliable vote to uphold reasonable campaign-finance laws, but this has hardly been her signature issue.
 
Last week, however, Justice Ginsburg issued a short statement that hinted she is ready to speak out more boldly. She, like many Americans, appears concerned with the rise of super PACs and the disturbing role money is playing in the 2012 campaign season since the Supreme Court’s controversial decision in Citizens United v. FEC. Justice Ginsburg likely won’t have the votes to overturn Citizens United, but she soon will be in a position to expose the disingenuousness at the ruling’s core.
