WHEN IN DOUBT CHECK IT OUT?

BEWARE WOLVES IN SHEEPS CLOTHING. ~mackie
By now, little of what Allen West says ever surprises. He has called President Obamaa low level socialist agitator,” said anyone with an Obama bumper sticker on their car is “a threat to the gene pool” and told liberals like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to “get the hell out of the United States of America.” Apparently, he gets his talking points from Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, or the discredited right wing rocker Ted Nugent.
But this time, we shook our heads in disbelief: “78 to 81 Democrats… members of the Communist Party?” That’s the moment the memory hole opened up and a ghost slithered into the room. The specter stood there, watching the screen, a snickering smile on its stubbled face. Sure enough, it was the ghost of Senator Joseph McCarthy, the Wisconsin farm boy who grew up to become one of the most contemptible thugs in American politics.
Back in the early 1950’s, the Cold War had begun and Americans were troubled by the Soviet Union’s rise as an atomic superpower.  Looking for a campaign issue, McCarthy seized on fear and ignorance to announce his discovery of a conspiracy within: Communist subversives who had infiltrated the government.
In speech after speech, McCarthy would hold up a list of names of members of the Communist Party he said had burrowed their way into government agencies and colleges and universities. The number he claimed would vary from day to day and when pressed to make his list public, McCarthy would stall or claim he accidentally had thrown it away.

Coburn Questions Accuracy of Fox News

Story by Matt Lasio, CNC News

After a woman in the audience railed against the possibility of being put in prison for not obtaining health insurance under the Democrat’s new law, Coburn dismissed her remark and questioned the accuracy of Fox News reports on health care reform.

“The intention is not to put any one in jail. That makes for good TV news on Fox but that isn’t the intention,” Coburn responded.

Then, the Republican senator, who was an arch-foe of the Obama health care bill, defended the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi against character attacks.

While discussing his policy disagreements with Pelosi Coburn said “she’s a nice lady,” which brought hisses and hoots from the crowd. But Coburn flatly rejected the crowd’s animosity towards the liberal speaker.

KEEPING UP WITH FOX NEWS…

Fox News Revs Up The Spin Machine To Attack Pelosi And Defend Town Hall Disrupters

Reported by Priscilla – Mon 2:10 PM

Nancy Pelosi, in an op-ed in USA Today, expressed her concern about protesters who are trying disrupt and stop meaningful discourse about health care reform. She made the legitimate point that “drowning out opposing views is un-American.” Not surprisingly, Fox News immediately got their spin machine running at full speed to twist Pelosi’s comment and defend those who are trying to “townhall” congressional representatives at town hall meetings by disrupting the messenger because they don’t like the message. Yup, the same folks who aren’t fans of Code Pink (who are way less rowdy than this crew) and students who protested Bush administration officials are defending those who use the same tactics. We’ve truly gone through the looking glass into an Orwellian bizarro world where black is white and we all love town halling teabaggers who are now being seen as victims of that evil, librul Nancy Pelosi. And un-American? Read on to see the rich irony!!

CBO NOW APPROVES OF OBAMA’S HEALTHCARE REFORM…

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives pounced on a congressional budget analysis to bolster their plan for a government-run health insurance option on Monday, as party leaders said they were closer to agreement on healthcare reform.

The report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said the public option proposed by Democrats would not drive private insurers out of business and most people would still choose to get their medical coverage through employers.

The public option has come under heavy fire from Republicans who say it will devastate the private insurance industry.

“We’re moving closer to a point where we can hold insurance companies accountable,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, told reporters, repeating her frequent prediction that once a bill hits the floor for a vote “it will win.”
